Holmes, Mildred Joyce (Marriage - 19 Jul. 1949)

Miss Mildred Joyce Holmes, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Lee Holmes, Loyal, became the bride of Orville Edward Nysted Tuesday, July 19, at Loyal.

The Rev. Holmes, the bride’s father, and the Rev. R. J. Fleming, Marshfield, uncle of the bride, officiated at the 8 p.m. service at the Loyal Methodist Church.

The bride was gowned in white taffeta, designed with a low scalloped neckline, short scalloped sleeves, and three tiers of scallops at the hipline. Her bouffant skirt and long flowing train were also bordered with scallops. She wore gauntlets and carried a shower bouquet of salmon gladioli. A beaded tiara held her net finger-tip veil.

Miss Marjorie Holmes, Loyal, was her sister’s maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Mary Nysted, Loyal, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Julius Nysted, Loyal, sister-in-law of the groom. They were attired in acqua, shell pink, and orchid frosted organdy, respectively. Completing their costumes were net sweetheart bonnets and embroidered nylon gloves which matched their gowns. Miss Holmes carried a bouquet of yellow gladioli and white asters, while the bridesmaids had mixed bouquets of asters.

Julius Nysted was his brother’s best man. Also serving the groom were the Rev. Virgil Holmes, Loyal, brother of the bride, and Robert Cook, Unity, cousin of the bride. Ushers were Myron Fleming, Marshfield, and Ray Cook, Unity, both cousins of the bride.

Christine Noeldner, Loyal, niece of the groom, was flower girl in a white frosted organdy. Ring-bearers were Douglas Cook, Unity, and Carol Noeldner, Loyal, cousin of the bride and niece of the groom.

Following the ceremony, a reception for 250 was held on the lawn of the parsonage.

Mr. Nysted is a Senior at St. Olaf’s College, Northfield, Minn. and his wife was graduated from Loyal High School this year.

When they return from a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, they will live at Northfield.

In addition to other guests the congregations of the York, Greenwood, and Loyal Methodist Churches were invited.
